Égypte - Une soixantaine d’organisations dénoncent l’exclusion des femmes juristes du Comité constitutionnel

Le Comité constitutionnel commence son travail en excluant les femmes juristes.

Les institutions et organisations ci-dessous ont signé cette déclaration en raison de leur désaccord avec les critères et la composition du Comité Constitutionnel selon lesquels le comité n’inclut aucune femme experte juridique.

Cette manière d’agir du comité suscite craintes et suspicions quant à l’avenir de l’Égypte et la phase de transition actuelle du pays après la Révolution du 25 janvier. Ce problème pose de manière critique la question de la démocratie et des objectifs principaux de la révolution qui se sont initialement énoncés en terme d’égalité, de liberté, de démocratie et de participation de tous les citoyens et citoyennes.

Par la présente, nous nous interrogeons sur les critères selon lesquels les membres du Comité constitutionnel ont été choisis. Sont-ils basés sur des critères politiques ou sur des valeurs d’égalité et de justice comme énoncés par la Révolution ? Si les critères sont basés sur l’efficacité et l’honnêteté, alors, pourquoi les femmes expertes juridiques sont-elles exclues puisque l’Égypte possède un grand nombre de femmes expertes en constitution à la Cour constitutionnelle suprême ou à la Faculté de Droit.

Comme les femmes égyptiennes ont participé en masse et autant que les hommes égyptiens à la Révolution, que quelques-unes ont été emprisonnées ou encore portées disparues pendant que d’autres ont été martyrisées, nous croyons qu’elles ont le droit de participer à la construction du nouvel État égyptien sur la simple base de la citoyenneté.

Pourtant, nous avons fortement confiance dans le discernement du Conseil militaire pour guider l’Égypte vers la démocratie. C’est pourquoi, nous faisons cette déclaration aujourd’hui pour insister sur les valeurs de citoyenneté et la participation des femmes, dans le cas présent, au Comité constitutionnel.

 Voir dans cette page la composition du comité. « Le comité est technique et très équilibré », a déclaré M. Saleh (Frère musulman). « Il n’a pas de couleur politique, sauf moi parce que j’étais un membre du Parlement ».
