The voices of Choeur Maha are rising Friday Dec 5th for their annual winter performance. Our winter concert Fréquence Nord includes gorgeous Latvian Christmas carols, a piece by Velvet Underground’s Nico, as well as an evocative new sound composition by KK. Opening for us is Metis artist and spoken word poet Moe Clark.

Continuing a tradition of commemorating the lives of the 14 women who were murdered 19 years ago at the École polytechnique on Dec. 6th, the women of Maha will stand and sing again in solidarity for those who have been lost and with those who continue to push for the rights, freedoms, and safety of women everywhere.

Choeur Maha is a Montreal women’s choir well-known for its diverse repertoire. This year come and experience the snowy hush of nordic folk songs, the sacred sounds of Judee Sill, honeyed medieval harmonies and a surround-sound encounter with cool electronics, ancient music, and thirty-two voices singing as one inside the wonderful acoustics of the Ukrainian Federation.
